The
City Transportation Agency, in cooperation with the Public Order Agency (Satpol
PP), will remove vendors operating on pedestrian crossings in Jakarta.
Transportation
agency head Muhammad Akbar told kompas.com that his agency was currently
collecting data on crossing bridges occupied by street vendors.
“We
[the agency] are still looking at which crossing bridges are being used by
vendors,” Akbar said on Monday.
Akbar
said that as soon as data collection was finished, he would immediately hand
over the data to the Public Order Agency.
“We
[the Transportation Agency] will cooperate with Satpol PP. Our job is to only
make a list of the crossing bridges. Satpol PP has the authority to clear the
crossing bridges,” said Akbar.
The
street vendors who trade on the crossing bridges are in violation of Bylaw No.
8/2007 on public order.
My Opinion:
I agree with the statement of Muhammad Akbar, head
of the transportation department, in connection with the rise of the street
vendors who sell in the area pedestrian bridge crossing. Pedestrians need
comfort when crossing at the pedestrian bridge.
In the her disciplined the PKL will give comfort to
the users of the bridge crossing, for example, when I was about to cross the
pedestrian bridge in the south of Jakarta, see the pedestrian bridge was
crowded with many street vendors (PKL) who sell in the area that makes the
bridge crossing the bridge The crowded and dirty and tended to make users feel
uncomfortable way when passing through the pedestrian bridge. full, crowded,
dirty, rundown, that's all I can describe.
The Street vendors who trade on the bridge crossing
is a violation of Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order.
Statement of the transportation department head
cpc. Mohammed Akbar makes me feel relieved, hopefully quickly realized the
problem of order in general pedestrian bridge to the communities in Jakarta,
especially me as a user of the pedestrian bridge.
Hopefully the street vendors who sell in the area,
especially the pedestrian bridge be a deterrent and give up selling at a place
that was not supposed to and hopefully Jakarta provincial government to provide
solutions to the Street vendors in order to get a suitable place to sell them
comfortably and not disturb public order.
